hell and back again.
well this documentary was good too. now i kind of hope this wins an academy award. i cried several times bc war stories make me melt. it was really well made and the editing was awesome and the story was sad and it was just a good documentary and i think its important to see it even tho i will probably be sad for the rest of the day now.
i heart huckabees.
watched this for the first time last night. i LOVE jason schwartzman. i want to be his friend. hes so awkward and funny and amazing. this movie was absurd and awesome and hysterical and perfect. and i watched it snugged up with a handsome boy so that was an added bonus.

id been putting off watching this movie for YEARS. and yesterday was the day. and it was AMAZING and interesting. i love history so much and it was really interesting to see other countries’ reactions to america involvement in vietnam and other nerdy historical things that i spend quite a bit of time thinking about. i find resistance movements to be fascinating and pre 9/11 terrorist...
paradise lost 3 purgatory.
this better win best documentary. especially since ‘tabloid’ didnt get nominated. this movie is fascinating and well made and intriguing. this is how documentaries should be made. its perfect.
the artist.
this was AMAZING. the score was incredible and the story was adorable. the editing was perfect and the actors were delightful. and the sound scene was incredible! reminded me of ‘cries and whispers’. this was up there with ‘midnight in paris’ for my favorite movies of the year and i hope it wins many oscars.
50/50
this was really funny and sad and lovely and i had very low expectations for this because of seth rogen and joseph gordon levitt and anna kendrick but it was actually really good.
the kid with a bike.
i love french movies. theyre so much better than american movies. this was an adorably sad little movie about a boy who is essentially an orphan and the trouble he gets into. i love it because its simple and its character based and the takes are long so the editing is subtle. its just a cute lil story about a cute lil boy and his cute lil bike.
another earth.
this was way better than expected. id been putting off watching it for months and im so happy that i finally saw it. it was SO good. and sad and nice and beautiful. and such an interesting idea. i want to go to earth 2! and the girl was great and i hope shes in more movies soon. and i like the guy from lost. but my favorite was the old man janitor. who had a lovely line that i want to...
restless.
mia wasikowska! henry hopper! gus van sant! a wwii era ghost! a sweet score! an adorable story! amazing!
so little time to say the things we mean. so little time for anything.

we need to talk about kevin.
i have been waiting months to see this movie and it did not disappoint. i love thats its non linear. i love that its about the mother. i love that kevin is crazy from day 1. i love the culmination of everything. i love the score. this was AMAZING.
the skin i live in.
do you know how much i love pedro almodovar?!
this was creepily amazing and fantastic and crazy and incestuous and original and perfect. i love plastic surgery :) and revenge.

the girl with the dragon tattoo.
well this was way better than expected. it was different than the book and the original movie but still good. and it was pretty long but didnt feel that way. rooney mara was great and beautiful. lots of sex and nakedness like i like. and violence and murder and mystery. pretty perfect.

beginners.
this is a lovely movie! i have a girl crush on melanie laurent. i love the halloween party and the roller skating and their romance and i love gay old men. i love the dog. i love the voiceover even though i usually hate voiceover. i love everything about this movie.
if this is the best i can do, they shouldnt give me money to make movies

well this was weird. it was interesting and original but just weird and awkward and i laughed a lot when nobody else was laughing. elizabeth olsen was good and pretty. john hawkes i will always love and find weirdly handsome. it was creepy and fragmented and i enjoyed it but just… weird.

midnight in paris.
this is SO good. i know everyone has been talking about it forever and i had like zero interest in seeing it but like wow. the cast is amazing and the music and cinematography etc but the story is so good i cant even deal. and now i want to go to paris again.

drive.
this was not what i expected at all. i like ryan gosling movies because he always plays a weirdo. and i love carey mulligan. and bryan cranston was so good. it had a really perfect cast. so that was nice. and the lighting in this was amazing. the music not so much. and the font not so much. that made it so weirdly 80s. but the cinematography was awesome. and the story was perfection....
the perfect host.
i love movies about people who are crazier than i am. i also love david hyde pierce. hes fantastic and weirdly similar to niles in this which i like. so this movie is great and weird and original and awesome. creepily enjoyable.
win win
i really like this movie which is extra great because i didnt expect to like it. i dont really like paul giamatti or amy ryan or wrestling but its fun and weird and just a really good little movie.

was pretty funny. although some of the dialogue and acting was meh. i really like jesse eisenberg. and aziz ansari. and seeing movies with handsome boys.
todd solondz and miranda july are my favorite writer/directors. i love their movies so much it is retarded and i want to make my movie already because i think its similar to something they would do.

harry potter and the deathly hallows part 2
this was awesome. i love harry potter. i especially love that awkward hug that voldemort gave draco. itd only be better if dobby werent dead :(
tabloid.
this is amazing. a lady when she was around 20 met a boy and liked him so kidnapped him and raped him and then got infamous in the tabloids, hence the title. the best part is that she sees nothing weird about what she did. also, she is completely crazy.

submarine.
this was so funny. like laugh out loud funny. which is rare. and amazing. so silly and clever and interesting. kind of like napoleon dynamite or lars and the real girl, not quite todd solondz-y but still that awkward coming of age weird kid indie movie that i love so much. definitely the best movie ive seen in a really long time.
super 8.
this was awesome. its like ‘explorers’ but not retarded.
tree of life.
was only good because i like random shots of jellyfish in a movie. instead of seeing this movie, you should go to the long beach aquarium because they have a lot of jellyfish, all shapes and sizes and they are all really awesome, but the babies are the best.
cropsey
this lil documentary is so good. i love learning about serial killers. this guy was extra mean because he liked to kill down syndrome kids. which is weird because like if youre going to be a pedo, why not choose the pretty kids?

this was awesome. way better than expected. further confirmation that i love saoirse ronan. the lighting was amazing. the score was great. the editing was awesome and interesting. the locations were interesting and cate blanchett played a role that seemed an unusual choice for her, which i liked. awesome, awesome. go see it.

the sunset limited.
this movie is great. i love tommy lee jones. the past few years have been amazing for him — no country for old men and in the valley of elah are both so incredible. and the dialogue in this is perfect. and i love that it all takes place in one location and its just one giant scene. its like “tape” but not annoying. plays are so much better than movies sometimes. and cormac...
inside job.
just kidding! this documentary makes being at work even more boring than usual.

freakonomics.
this is really interesting, especially the part about the difference in names between white people and black people. really interesting, really original, a great combination of stock footage and animation/graphics.
and if i saw this in high school, i might have had a chance at doing well in math.

this movie is beautiful. nicole kidman is great. i wasnt expecting much, but wow. it shouldve been nominated for best picture. its a million times better than winters bone. its probably in my top 5 of the year.
it.
stephen king is awesome. this is my second favorite after ‘the green mile.’ clowns be scary.
the watcher in the woods.
i saw this gem for the first time last week. it was incredible. 1980s disney movies are amazing. this is almost as good as “the explorers.” and the special effects are top notch.
something wicked this way comes.
80s kids movies are awesome. i watched this for the first time last week and it is a creepy carnival story by disney and its awesome.
true grit.
i love the coen brothers. love love love. and the cinematography and the acting and the screenplay.
but mostly what i was thinking the whole movie was “how lucky is that girl?!”
she gets to work with joel & ethan coen, matt damon, jeff bridges, josh brolin, and barry pepper. all at once! ahhhh

troll 2
troll 2 is way better than troll 1. like WAY better. troll 1 is pretty stupid. troll 2, however, is a masterpiece from my childhood that i loved to watch when it was on hbo at my grandfathers house and i loved it extra much because my brother was scared of it. plus goblins are way cooler than trolls. and a town called nilbog is a way better setting than a stupid apartment complex with weird...
harry potter and the deathly hallows
was really awesome but wouldve been way better if dobby didnt die. amiright?!
i love dobby.
catfish
is an amazing pseudo documentary that makes my tummy hurt in a good way. and makes me want to write, which is always good. i like it because its like something i would do/have done. its kind of like ‘shermans march’ too, which is another thing thats always good. it also reminds me of crazy/love, which is a documentary about crazy people who had an incident with lye years earlier in...

scott pilgrim vs. the world.
this movie is AMAZING. it is so funny and so clever with great editing and special effects. michael cera is fantastic as usual. everything is just so perfectly done, from the coins he wins when he beats an evil ex to all the characters, especially knives. and i love that ramona rollerblades thru snow and that they used the line about bread making you fat from the book. this is one of few...

life during wartime.
nothing makes me want to write more than watching a todd solondz movie. ”life during wartime” is fantastic. it is a really well-written pseudo-sequel to “happiness” with allusions to his other gems. i love that he uses different actors for the same characters a la “palindromes.” i love that he focuses on characters who previously played minor roles. i love...
