take shelter.
this was sad and scary but it was a really good movie about a man who gets schizophrenia and the impact it has on his life. reminded me of a story line on ‘six feet under’ in which the mom’s bf goes a lil crazy and makes a bomb shelter. but ‘take shelter’ went deeper into the psyche which although terrifying was also fascinating.
hell and back again.
well this documentary was good too. now i kind of hope this wins an academy award. i cried several times bc war stories make me melt. it was really well made and the editing was awesome and the story was sad and it was just a good documentary and i think its important to see it even tho i will probably be sad for the rest of the day now.
i heart huckabees.
watched this for the first time last night. i LOVE jason schwartzman. i want to be his friend. hes so awkward and funny and amazing. this movie was absurd and awesome and hysterical and perfect. and i watched it snugged up with a handsome boy so that was an added bonus.

id been putting off watching this movie for YEARS. and yesterday was the day. and it was AMAZING and interesting. i love history so much and it was really interesting to see other countries’ reactions to america involvement in vietnam and other nerdy historical things that i spend quite a bit of time thinking about. i find resistance movements to be fascinating and pre 9/11 terrorist attacks were really interesting and simple! everything about this movie was just amazing and shows that history is full of incredible people and stories.
paradise lost 3 purgatory.
this better win best documentary. especially since ‘tabloid’ didnt get nominated. this movie is fascinating and well made and intriguing. this is how documentaries should be made. its perfect.
the artist.
this was AMAZING. the score was incredible and the story was adorable. the editing was perfect and the actors were delightful. and the sound scene was incredible! reminded me of ‘cries and whispers’. this was up there with ‘midnight in paris’ for my favorite movies of the year and i hope it wins many oscars.
50/50
this was really funny and sad and lovely and i had very low expectations for this because of seth rogen and joseph gordon levitt and anna kendrick but it was actually really good.
the kid with a bike.
i love french movies. theyre so much better than american movies. this was an adorably sad little movie about a boy who is essentially an orphan and the trouble he gets into. i love it because its simple and its character based and the takes are long so the editing is subtle. its just a cute lil story about a cute lil boy and his cute lil bike.
another earth.
this was way better than expected. id been putting off watching it for months and im so happy that i finally saw it. it was SO good. and sad and nice and beautiful. and such an interesting idea. i want to go to earth 2! and the girl was great and i hope shes in more movies soon. and i like the guy from lost. but my favorite was the old man janitor. who had a lovely line that i want to remember forever — “listen to me. keep your mind clear and thats it. you will have peace of mind. my dear, dont worry. learn to adjust yourself.”
